Quick answer
Request a copy of your data first if you want it, then submit Indeed's Personal Data Request form and choose deletion. That deletes your data and closes the account, and Indeed says it can take about a month. If your Indeed login is linked to Glassdoor, delete your Glassdoor account separately.
Step 1: Get a copy of your data (optional)
Indeed recommends requesting a copy before you delete. You can ask for a copy and deletion on the same form, so this can be one step.
Step 2: Submit a deletion request
- Go to Indeed's Personal Data Request form at requests.hrtechprivacy.com (Indeed's help center links to it from its "Requesting or deleting your data" article).
- Choose to delete your data, and to get a copy too if you want one.
- Verify your identity. Indeed emails you a receipt and lets you know when the request is complete, usually within about a month.
The same form covers Indeed's related services, including SimplyHired, Indeed Flex, and Workopolis.
Closing without deleting
If you only want to stop using Indeed, go to your account settings and choose Close my account below your email address. A closed account can't be reactivated, but closing on its own doesn't delete your data.
What deletion doesn't reach
Employers you applied to through Indeed received your resume and application. They are separate companies with their own records. If you want those deleted, ask each employer directly.
Glassdoor: Indeed and Glassdoor accounts can share a login. Deleting your Indeed data doesn't delete your Glassdoor account, so delete that separately.
Your legal right to deletion
If you live in a state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, or Oregon, Indeed generally has to honor your deletion request and respond within the deadline your state sets. See what your state's law requires.
Indeed is probably not the only one
Most people have dozens of companies holding their information, from old shopping accounts to apps they've forgotten. DataTrail scans your inbox (read-only) to find them all, flags the ones with data breaches, and writes the deletion requests for you.
