Quick answer
Save anything you want, such as your guest list, then go to theknot.com/account/settings/account-management and click the delete account button at the bottom. That removes your wedding website, guest list, checklist, budget, and registries managed on The Knot. Registries hosted by retailers stay active on the retailer's own site.
Step 1: Save what you want to keep
Download or copy your guest list (handy for thank-you notes and holiday cards), and save any photos or wording from your wedding website. Once the account is deleted, these are gone.
Step 2: Delete your account
- Sign in and go to theknot.com/account/settings/account-management.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the delete account button.
Your wedding website's content disappears almost right away, though its link can stay in Google results for up to about four weeks.
Just want the website gone?
You can keep your account and only take the site down: go to Manage Website > Privacy Settings and choose Deactivate your wedding website. You can reactivate it later.
What deletion doesn't reach
- Retailer registries (for example at department stores or Amazon) stay active. Close them on each retailer's site.
- Vendors you contacted through The Knot received your contact details. Ask them directly to delete your information.
- The Knot Worldwide also runs WeddingWire and The Bump. Accounts on those sites are deleted separately.
Your legal right to deletion
If you live in a state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, or Oregon, The Knot generally has to honor your deletion request and respond within the deadline your state sets. See what your state's law requires.
The Knot is probably not the only one
Most people have dozens of companies holding their information, from old shopping accounts to apps they've forgotten. DataTrail scans your inbox (read-only) to find them all, flags the ones with data breaches, and writes the deletion requests for you.
