Quick answer
In the app, go to Settings > Privacy Center. To keep using Life360 with less sharing, turn off Include my data and disconnect Arity. To leave, choose Your Data Rights > Delete my account. If you're a Circle Admin, hand the role to someone else first.
Why it matters
A 2021 investigation by The Markup found Life360 was selling precise location data on millions of users, many of them children, to location data brokers. Afterward, Life360 said it would stop selling precise location data to those brokers, while continuing to share data with Arity, a company owned by Allstate, and selling aggregated data.
Option 1: Keep Life360 but share less
- Open Settings > Privacy Center.
- Under Your Privacy Choices, turn off Include my data, and turn it off separately under Traffic and retail insights.
- Under Trusted Partners, open Arity, turn off Connect to Arity, and confirm. This also turns off driving features such as Drive Detection and Crash Alerts.
Option 2: Delete your account
- If you're a Circle Admin, make someone else the admin first in Circle Management.
- Cancel any paid membership through Life360 or your Apple or Google account.
- Go to Settings > Privacy Center > Your Data Rights, choose Delete my account, check the box, and confirm.
Each family member has their own account. Deleting yours doesn't delete theirs.
Your legal right to deletion
If you live in a state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, or Oregon, Life360 generally has to honor your deletion request and respond within the deadline your state sets. See what your state's law requires.
Life360 is probably not the only one
Most people have dozens of companies holding their information, from old shopping accounts to apps they've forgotten. DataTrail scans your inbox (read-only) to find them all, flags the ones with data breaches, and writes the deletion requests for you.
