Quick answer
Cancel Premium first, where you subscribed. Then delete your account: on the website, My Home > Settings > Delete Account; in the iPhone app, More > Help > Delete Account; on Android, Menu > Help > Delete Account. If you reused your old MyFitnessPal password anywhere, change it there too.
Step 1: Cancel Premium
Cancel where you subscribed, at least a day before your next billing date. On iPhone, cancel in your Apple ID subscriptions; on Android, in Google Play subscriptions; on the web, turn off auto-renewal under My Home > Premium > Subscription Settings.
Step 2: Delete your account
- Website: sign in, go to My Home > Settings, and choose Delete Account.
- iPhone: tap More, then Help > Delete Account, and confirm.
- Android: tap the menu, then Help > Delete Account, and confirm.
Why it's worth doing
In 2018, Under Armour, which owned MyFitnessPal at the time, disclosed that an attacker had taken usernames, email addresses, and hashed passwords for about 150 million accounts. Old accounts with old passwords are exactly what attackers try first. If you used that password anywhere else, change it there.
Your legal right to deletion
If you live in a state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, or Oregon, MyFitnessPal generally has to honor your deletion request and respond within the deadline your state sets. See what your state's law requires.
MyFitnessPal is probably not the only one
Most people have dozens of companies holding their information, from old shopping accounts to apps they've forgotten. DataTrail scans your inbox (read-only) to find them all, flags the ones with data breaches, and writes the deletion requests for you.
